Okāsan and Me Inc.

Okāsan and Me is a non-profit 501(c)3 education corporation under California State Law, offering bilingual education in English and Japanese. Our students range from 2-62, including children and their parents. Okāsan means 'mother' in Japanese; however, 50% of our parent participants are fathers. The introduction of world languages and cultures through music, dance, and art cultivates understanding and promotes World Peace. Further enhances cognitive skills, sparking creativity and critical thinking. (World cultures include Ethiopia, China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Germany, Japan, France, Sweden etc.).

Our unique curriculum includes Japanese American history, the Peruvian Japanese incarceration, and a variety of history projects. We also introduce traditional Japanese foods and instruments, such as the Shamisen, to our students. Under our pedagogy, your child's favorite toy or stuffed animal magically becomes bilingual!
